OWEN HART

1966-1999

What can be said about Owen that hasn't been said a million times before, oh hell we'll make it one million and one. Owen Hart was my favorite wrestler since his original "Blue Blazer" days, his match with Mr. Perfect was one of the highlights of Wrestlemania 5.

Owen's run teaming and later feuding with Bret was one of the best slow burn angles ever culminating in what remains one of my favorite Wrestlemania matches, when Owen stunned the world by pinning Bret at Wrestlemania 10, the world took notice and his achievements afterwards speak for themselves. King Of The Ring, The most versatile Tag Team Champion ever with 4 reigns with 3 different partners a former 2 time Intercontinental and 1 time European Champion.

The circumstances of Owens death are well documented elsewhere and I won't rehash the argument. But I strongly do strongly believe Owen's death was a tragic accident, which robbed me and millions of others of their hero. All I know is the WWF would have been a LOT different today if he hadn't died. So spare a thought on May 23rd for "The Rocket" and his familiy.

"RAVISHING" RICK RUDE

1959-1999

When I first started watching the WWF, one of the guys I loved to watch was "Ravishing" Rick, here was a guy who would come out to what I still believe is the coolest ring music ever, insult the male fans, then drive the women wild with his chiseled physique; Then he'd go out and wrestle a great match! Rick Rude's trademark was his consistency, in a game where wrestlers change sides nearly every week he never played a face, he stuck to what he knew, being the best heel in town. Rick Rude had it all from the customised tights for each opponent to the killer intro, designed to get under the crowds skin everytime.

Who can forget Rick's win over the Warrior at Wrestlemania 5 or the feud with Jake " The Snake" Roberts, or his year long run as WCW U.S. Champion and the notorious incident when he was on RAW AND NITRO AT THE SAME TIME!!

Rick was the template for many of todays top heels, Triple H, Val Venis, The Rock, Edge & Christian have all been influenced by Rude. He deserves his place in our hall of fame!

So we have our first two iductees, who will be the first wrestler from ECWC to make the grade......Watch this space.....
